TRREB moved to a new syndication platform called AMPRE in 2024. If you have not authorized a vendor since then, the setup flow is different from what you might remember. Here is the current path.
Before you start
Three prerequisites. Confirm all three before opening AMPRE:
1. You are a TRREB member in good standing. Lapsed dues will block the portal entirely. Resolve at your member portal first.
2. Two-factor authentication is enabled on your TRREB account. AMPRE requires 2FA to generate any tokens. If you skipped 2FA setup, go to your TRREB profile and add an authenticator app first.
3. Your brokerage has not blocked third-party syndication. Some brokerages require an internal approval before agents can authorize external vendors. Check with your compliance officer.
Step-by-step setup
Step 1: Sign in to syndication.ampre.ca
Open [syndication.ampre.ca](https://syndication.ampre.ca) in a browser. Log in with your TRREB credentials (same username and password you use for Stratus or Matrix). 2FA will prompt you for a code from your authenticator app.
Step 2: Find the Vendor Authorization screen
In the AMPRE portal's left navigation, look for "Vendor Authorization" or "Third-party Access". The exact label varies between updates but the function is the same.
Step 3: Search for your vendor
Type the vendor name in the search. For Charcom, type "Charcom". For other vendors, use their exact registered name with TRREB (they will tell you on their dashboard).
Step 4: Select products
Tick the boxes for the products you want to authorize:
- IDX (Internet Data Exchange). Public active listings. The default and what most agents need. Tick this.
- AD-A (Agent Data Access). Your own listings with full data access. Tick this.
- VOW (Virtual Office Website). Sold history and richer fields, gated to registered users on your website. Optional. Tick if you want a registration gate on your site as a lead-capture mechanism.
Step 5: Click Authorize
AMPRE generates a token. A long alphanumeric string. Copy the entire token. It is shown only once; do not navigate away before copying.
Step 6: Paste into your website builder
On Charcom: go to your dashboard at /dashboard/idx-feed. Paste the token into the field. Tick the same product boxes you ticked at AMPRE. Click Save.
Step 7: Wait for first sync
First sync runs within 30 minutes. Full population (all your active listings, plus media, plus schema markup) completes within 4 hours depending on how many listings you have. Nightly syncs thereafter pick up any new listings, status changes, price reductions, and photo updates.
Common issues
"Cannot generate token" at AMPRE. Your TRREB account needs 2FA. Set it up in your profile, then retry.
"Authorization denied by brokerage". Your broker has a syndication setting that needs to be flipped. Email your compliance officer: "Charcom is a registered TRREB syndication recipient. Please approve our authorization."
First sync takes longer than expected. If you have a large book (50+ listings) or multiple boards, the first sync can take 2 to 4 hours. Be patient.
Listings not appearing after sync. Confirm your AMPRE products match the checkboxes in your website builder. If you authorized IDX at AMPRE but ticked AD-A only in Charcom, no listings appear. Re-save to align them.
What you can do after sync
Once your listings are live on your site, several things become possible:
- Each listing has its own URL on your domain (yourname.charcom.ca/listings/123-oak-street) and can rank for searches like "123 Oak Street Mississauga"
- Schema.org Residence markup means Google can show your listings as rich results
- Buyers can save searches and get email alerts when matching listings come on the market
- Lead-form submissions tied to a specific listing show up in your dashboard with the property as context
The whole flow takes 15 minutes once prerequisites are met. Compared to the old TRREB RETS setup (which took weeks of paperwork), AMPRE is a meaningful improvement.
