Cookies Policy
This Cookies Policy explains what cookies and similar technologies Charcom uses, why, and how you control them. It supplements the Privacy Policy.
What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file stored on your device by your browser when you visit a website. We also use related technologies (localStorage, sessionStorage, pixels) for similar purposes. In this policy, "cookies" refers to all such technologies.
Categories we use
Strictly necessary
Required for the Service to function. These cannot be disabled. Examples:
- Authentication session cookies (so you stay logged in)
- CSRF protection tokens
- Billing-flow state (during a checkout session)
Functional
Remember your preferences and improve usability. Examples:
- Theme preference (light/dark)
- Tenant subdomain selection during onboarding
Analytics
Help us understand aggregate usage so we can improve the Service. Where we use Google Analytics, we configure it with IP anonymization and short retention. Analytics cookies are opt-in for visitors in jurisdictions that require it (EU/EEA, UK, Quebec).
Marketing
We do not currently set marketing or advertising cookies for retargeting or cross-site tracking on the Charcom marketing site. Tenant Sites operated by individual Subscribers may set their own cookies — those are governed by the relevant Subscriber's privacy notice, not Charcom's.
Consent banner
For visitors in jurisdictions that require it, we display a consent banner on first visit with:
- A clear description of the cookie categories we use;
- Granular toggles for each non-essential category;
- A "Reject Non-Essential" button presented with equal visual prominence to "Accept All";
- A link back to this policy.
Your consent decision is stored in your browser and recorded in our LegalAcceptance audit log together with the Cookies Policy version hash, your IP address, your user-agent string, and the timestamp. You may change your decision any time by clicking the "Cookie preferences" link in the footer.
How to control cookies in your browser
You can also control cookies via your browser settings — block all cookies, delete existing cookies, or block specific sites. Blocking strictly-necessary cookies will break the Service.
Changes
We may update this policy. The current effective date and version hash are shown at the top of the page.
